Thanks Dirk for illustrating what I have been trying to do for years but was a bit directionless. I experimented with shallow depth of field but lacked the knowledge to use a lot of backgrounds to my advantage and tended to isolate the flower instead of using the secondary subject as complimentary. I have a reinvigorated zest to get back to flower photography now, thanks for sharing your experience.

Hey Dirk! Your flower photography classes are incredible! The content is awesome, and the way you explain the techniques is killer. Seriously, I couldn't hit stop – I devoured the whole thing! I tried flower photography before, but my pics just weren't hitting the mark. Your class feels like the missing piece that's gonna take my skills to the next level.

I just completed this masterclass series and it was fantastic! I've been shooting macro images for decades but never like this. Dirk's instruction was clear, concise and easy to follow. This course has really opened my eyes to something new and I am enjoying putting to use everything that I've learned.

I particularly enjoyed how much emphasis was put on being creative and exploring each potential shooting scene even before putting a camera to your face. FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

No, you don’t need special or expensive gear. A DSLR or mirrorless camera combined with a macro lens or even a regular lens combined with an extension tube will do just fine.

In one of the bonus videos, you’ll get when subscribing to my news letter, I compare results with an expensive professional camera lens combination (Canon 5DIII +100mm macro f/2.8) with my old entry camera (Canon Rebel (400D) + extension tube and cheap 50mm f/1.8). Results for both are amazing. Skills are far more important then expensive gear.

A pocket camera or smartphone is not suitable for this kind of photography. Also with a micro four this camera this kind of images will be challenging due to it’s smaller sensor size.

Images are mostly shot handheld, so no need for a tripod.
