Multiple Exposure Tree Photography

A Multi Layered World of Trees

Multiple Exposure Tree Photography Masterclass

Dreamy painterly impressionistic

Discover the magic of multiple exposure tree photography! In this masterclass, you’ll learn how to create stunning, abstract, and painterly images—entirely in-camera. From impressionistic layers to dreamlike compositions, unlock new creative possibilities and transform ordinary trees into works of art. Let’s look at the world through different eyes!

Straight out of the camera

This masterclass is all about in-camera multiple exposure techniques, where the real magic unfolds while shooting, leaving only minimal post-processing required.

Though the primary focus is on capturing effects in-camera, the course also includes sections on post-processing. In one of these chapters, I demonstrate how to recreate in-camera multiple exposure effects using the same images taken during the shoot.

Who's it for?

Skills and tools needed:

  • Shoot in full manual mode
  • basic skills in post processing
  • Digital DSLR or mirrorless camera

In-camera Multiple Exposure Tree Photography Masterclass

Why in-camera?

Shooting multiple exposures in-camera fuels creativity through instant feedback, spontaneous experimentation, and the excitement of capturing the final image in the moment.

Creativity in the Moment

What camera to use?

Many DSLRs and mirrorless cameras from Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm and others offer this feature. Check your camera settings! Sony however doesn't have a multiple exposure function.

The addiction of in-camera multiple exposure

Be aware....

Be warned—shooting in-camera multiple exposures is highly addictive! Once you start experimenting, it’s hard to stop. The process of layering images in real time fuels creativity, encourages spontaneous exploration, and keeps you engaged with every shot. Each new attempt reveals unexpected textures, patterns, and moods, making every capture a unique work of art. The results can be truly spectacular, transforming even ordinary scenes into dreamy, abstract, or surreal compositions. This technique opens up endless creative possibilities!
